From Legal To Labor

The New Legal Services Division aims to empower our members by offering both immigration and labor rights legal services. Through workshops and community outreach, we help individuals understand how immigration and labor systems impact their lives and rights.

We support individuals navigating legal matters in different ways. In some cases, our team may provide direct legal assistance. In others, we offer guidance and resources to help individuals represent themselves—also known as pro se representation. Our goal is to ensure that every community member has access to the tools, information, and support they need to understand their rights and take informed action.

IMMIGRATION

The NICE Legal Services Pro-Se Immigration Program offers members and their families empowering legal education and guidance to assist them effectively in presenting their cases before USCIS and Immigration Court. As part of the NICE Legal Service Division Pro-Se model, our organization conducts workshops and  individualized immigration assessments through detailed intakes to better understand each participant’s immigration history and identify possible legal pathways.

**THE NICE IMMIGRATION DIVISION PROGRAM IS LIMITED TO OUR MEMBERS (PRE-APPRENTICE AND ADVANCE).**

Case acceptance is based on a combination of factors, including the nature of the concern, available documentation, and staff capacity. In some cases, workers may be referred to other organizations that can provide support based on the nature of their situation.

THE NICE LEGAL SERVICES PRO - SE LABOR RIGHTS

Empowers NICE members with the knowledge, tools, and support necessary to take action against workplace injustices and unfair labor practices. Operating under the Pro-Se model within the NICE Legal Services Division, the program enables members to identify violations of their labor rights and advocate on their own behalf—whether through internal resolution with their employer or by pursuing legal action. The Labor Rights Program is committed to raising awareness of labor rights and connecting individuals to available resources across all five boroughs of New York City.
