Most of our community members, because of their immigration status, were excluded from critical disaster relief programs - like unemployment insurance and federal cash assistance.
Now that it's clear COVID-19 has impacted immigrant communities disproportionally, more must be done to support them.
As NICE continues to distribute groceries to immigrant families and connecting them to the little resources available to them, we call on local government to do more and to our supporters for help.
1) The city and state should provide emergency cash assistance and/or food and rent vouchers to individuals who won't qualify for federal assistance.
2) We also need your help to ensure we are able to continue to support this community. Please consider making a donation. Any amount helps: https://www.nynice.org/donors
